No Mass Wednesday, October 11
We do not have our weekly school Mass on Wednesday, October 11, due to Clergy Days. We will resume our weekly Masses next week. We will be having a regular, full-day schedule.
Students for Life Presentation
The next Students for Life meeting will take place on Friday, October 13, at 7:20 a.m. in the OGJH music room. Mark Nelson, former youth director at Holy Spirit Parish who now lives in Omaha, is going to discuss the dangers of pornography and how it interferes with our relationships with Jesus and others. As a parent, you are always welcomed to attend and/or have the choice not to send your child.
Theology of the Body–Attention 8th Grade Families
In the coming weeks, OGJH 8th grade students will focus on the Theology of the Body curriculum within their theology classes. Here are the chapters and objectives that will be discussed in the upcoming weeks:
Chapter 5-Sex, Love and Chastity; Chapter 6-To Use or Not to Use
At the end of these topics, students should be able to:
• Recognize the difference between love and lust.
• Recognize the concept of “use” as the opposite of love, and the idea that “using” another person is never an appropriate action.
• Evaluate contemporary social behaviors (music, TV, pornography, pre-marital sex) with the standards of chastity.
• Explore various vocations (married life, consecrated life, ordained life).
• Understand appropriate dating.
• Understand the universal call to holiness and how to live it in daily life.
Students will be given necessary texts and materials in class. If you would like more information, there is an accompanying parent workbook, which can be purchased on the TOB for Teens website. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s theology teacher.
