We had a tremendous amount of activity during the month of March at O’Gorman Junior High School. From our “Music Tour”, to all of our co-curricular activities, the month of March seemed to come and go quickly.

The last two months of school can often be the most difficult for middle level students to complete at a successful level. The nice spring weather and the anticipation of summer break can be a major hurdle in student learning. At OGJH, we take great pride in finishing the school year like we start it. With engaging activities, clear expectations, routines, and procedures, it is our intention that student learning will not only survive, but thrive in our last months of school. For strategies on how you can help your child during the last months of school, please see the excerpt titled “Finishing Strong Academically”, on page two of the April Newsletter.

School safety continues to be a number one priority at O’Gorman Junior High School. Our school regularly practices safety drills to prepare for various scenarios. Recent national incidents have reminded us all about the importance of preparation and continuous improvement. As more is learned about what led up to these tragedies, we expect conversations to continue – nationally and locally – so that we can do everything possible to protect our students and staff. Our students have always been intent on if they see or hear something suspicious, that they report it to the appropriate personnel. We ask our parents to do the same in order to maintain our current environment.

Thanks to the incredible genoersity of our students and their families, we were able to bring in approximately $1,000 this Lenten season. The proceeds will go to Feeding South Dakota and the Backpack Program. Thank you!

Wishing all of our families a blessed Easter!
