7th and 8th Grade Orientation: Monday, August 20/Tuesday, August 21
7th Grade Orientation takes place Monday, August 20. 8th grade students do not attend on the 20th. 8th Grade Orientation is held on Tuesday, August 21. 7th grade students do not attend on the 21st. Both days will be half days (8:15-12:00). Drop off and pick up can take place on the north side (back) of the school at Entrance F. Breakfast and lunch will NOT be served. Our breakfast and lunch program will begin on Wednesday, August 22. The uniform policy is in effect on the Orientation Days. We ask that you send all the necessary items (paperwork, money, etc.) back to school with your child on their Orientation Day. In addition, students should bring all of their items from the “back to school list”. It may also be of benefit to have your child bring a lanyard as school ID’s will be given out. We have found that ID’s are not as easily lost when a lanyard is attached. Please let us know if you have questions regarding the Orientation Days.

One Time Fund Time
Thank you again to the families who have been so generous to donate to our annual One Time Fund Time. One Time Fund Time is an opportunity to support the students and faculty of OGJH for the upcoming year. This is the only fundraiser that soley benefits the junior high. Please consider donating if you are able and have not done so. For more information, please click here.
Traffic Control: Drop Off/Pick Up
Students should be dropped off and picked up at the north entrance (Entrance F) facing 37th Street. The entrance can be reached by turning west at the intersection of Kiwanis Avenue and 37th Street. You may use both lanes to pick up your child. Students should use the crosswalk if they need to cross over to the parking lot or the lane closest to the parking lot. We would suggest using the lane closest to the school if your child is quick to leave the building after dismissal.
Entrance B (east side) may only be used by students who have a sibling who utilizes the parking lot between the two schools. We ask that parents do not pick up in this lot because it is very busy after school. Stopping and waiting in this lot is not allowed.
2018-2019 OGH Policy/Procedure Changes
A few items of note that have changed since last school year that we want to make you aware of as we enter the new school year:
- Shoes: Shoes must have a hard sole and be intended for outdoor wear (no slippers). Also, crocs are not allowed.
- Wearable Devices: Students are not allowed to have on their person any type of wearable device. This includes Apple Watches, Fitbits, etc.
- Attendance Letters: In order to maintain communication between home and school regarding attendance, a letter and official school documentation will be mailed at five, nine, and twelve days of a student being absent during the year.
